About this page:
My fascination with the Bushbaby is difficult to explain. The time in my life when I first 'discovered' them was very special and this, I believe, has caused them to stick in my mind.
I saw my first bushbaby at the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas, USA. He (and it was definitely a male) was in a darkened nocturnal exhibit and was behaving very strangely!
On a subsequent visit, he began to emit the baby like 'screams' that gave him his name. These screams are not to be underestimated; they are blood curdling. If they weren't being produced
by such a cute little creature I would have never given it a second thought. I suppose it is, too, this dichotomy that earns the 'babys' a special place in my heart.
I am not an expert on the little guys, but I've collected some photographs of and links (a very complete list) to information about them so you can learn more about them, too.
I've also compiled a list of their taxonomic classifications below. Evidently, many new species have been discovered recently. If you have information on this or any photos of the bushbaby,
please e-mail me.
Enjoy!
